Kristin Kocsis
DVM
Dr. Kristin Kocsis earned her bachelor’s degree in Animal Bioscience at The Pennsylvania State University in 2005 and graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. After graduation she completed an internship in equine medicine before transitioning to small animal medicine exclusively in 2013. After spending time in general practice, Dr. Kocsis acted on her passion for oral care and officially started her dental residency program, which she completed in 2022. In 2022 she and Dr. McCoy also started a business partnership, where they co-founded Lone Star Dentistry and Oral Surgery for Animals. Her animal companions include a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Haley, a cat named Remy, and her children’s pony Levi. In her spare time Dr. Kocsis enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children, and competing with the American Quarter Horses she shares with her parents.
Todd McCoy
DVM, Diplomate American Veterinary Dental College
Dr. Todd McCoy is a board-certified veterinary dentist. He completed his undergraduate studies in Biology and Archaeology at the University of Houston where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology in 1995. He graduated from the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. He spent the next several years in general practice before entering a formal veterinary dental residency program and completing it in 2015. Dr. McCoy acquired the Texas Veterinary Dental Center in 2014. He completed board-certification in 2019. His special interests are periodontal disease, endodontics, and oral surgery. Dr. McCoy is a member of the American Veterinary Dental Society, Texas Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife and kids and spending time in the outdoors.
Lisa Mack
LVT, VTS (Dentistry): Practice Manager
Lisa grew up locally in Seabrook, TX. She graduated from Houston Vet Tech Institute in December 2009 obtaining an Associate in Applied Science degree. Soon after Lisa completed and passed her National and Texas State board exam making her a Licensed Veterinary Technician. She began working with Dr. Todd McCoy at Nasa Pet Hospital in January 2010 after completing a two month externship. Here is where her journey in Veterinary Dentistry began. Once eligible, Lisa applied to the Academy of Veterinary Dental Technicians credentialing program in 2013. She completed the program in August 2019 becoming a Veterinary Technician Specialist in Dentistry. Lisa enjoys teaching Veterinary Dentistry continuing education courses on the side and during her free time she enjoys spending time with her Husband, daughter, fur babies, family, and friends.
Yahaira Servantes
LVT
Yahaira graduated from Vet Tech Institute in 2013 with an associate degree in Veterinary Technology and has been a Licensed Veterinary Technician since 2014. For the past 8 years, her focus has been on advanced dentistry and anesthesia. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her husband, daughter, and 3 cats.
Melanie Salazar
LVT
Melanie was born and raised in Houston, TX. She has always had an interest in caring for animals since she was a little girl. She graduated from Vet Tech Institute in December 2014 and became a licensed veterinary technician in November 2020. She started in general practice but has been working in the veterinary dentistry field since January 2018. She is very interested in the field and hopes to become a specialised veterinary technician in dentistry in the future. Melanie enjoys hanging out with her fiance, family and friends, gardening, reading, making jewelry with her mom and taking her great dane, Pepper to the park.
Monique Durant
Veterinary Assistant
Monique (Mo or MoMo) was born and raised in Southern California. She moved to the Houston area in September of 2012 to be close to family. She has an associate’s degree in communications from University of Phoenix and is a certified dog trainer through Animal Behavior College. Monique has been in veterinary medicine for over 15 years with an interest in behavior and training. She joined the veterinary dentistry world in late 2018 and quickly developed a passion for it.
Throughout her life, Monique has been very involved in animal rescue. She has 4 dogs and 2 cats of her own and more often than not, there’s always a foster, or 2… or 3 in her home. She took a break from vet med for about 5 years to be a professional ballroom instructor for Arthur Murray but her love for animals brought her right back.
In her spare time, Monique loves to craft with a focus on custom epoxy and sublimation tumblers. She is also an avid PC gamer and loves to organize charity streams for animal rescues.
Cara Chambellan
LVT
Cara was born and raised in Clear Lake and the surrounding areas. She started professionally working with animals in the summer of 2016 with particular interest in exotic small mammals, birds, reptiles and invertebrates. She graduated from Vet Tech Institute with an Associates Degree in 2020 and became state licensed in early 2021. Cara spent the first few years in general practice with particular interest in all anesthetic procedures, dentistry being a niche. She recently joined the incredible team at Lonestar Dentistry and Oral Surgery for Animals and immediately felt at home. Her hobbies and lifestyle include personal health and fitness; gardening; attending comic and exotic animal conventions; watching anime; collecting the odd and curious; going on adventures with her partner, Dylan; hanging out with her parents or staying home with her dogs, cats, ball pythons, tarantulas, chinchillas, sugar gliders and frilled lizard. Cara is intent on furthering her career as a Veterinary Technician by earning a Bachelor’s Degree and possibly teaching/training vet tech students in dentistry, anesthesia and exotic animal medicine/husbandry in the future.
